Step Up 2021

In 2021, Cameco Ontario announced a virtual run and a golf package to raise money for Cameco Fund for Mental Health.

The Cameco Charity Golf package at Dalewood Golf Club began in 2020 as a replacement for the traditional golf tournament usually held by Cameco each year.

“We were really excited for our golf tournament last year, as it was going to be our first event at Dalewood Golf Club,” said Clark. “But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to change our plans from a one-day golf tournament to the Cameco Charity Golf Package, allowing participants to golf on a day that works for them. This year, we will once again be offering the golf package in place of the tournament.”

Participants could pick a day that worked for them to golf any day in August or September. The price was $110, with a portion going to charity and Cameco contributing an additional $40. New for 2021, Dalewood members could also participate with special pricing of $55.

All participants got to play 18 holes with a cart, lunch, and a Cameco swag bag. Everyone was automatically entered into a draw to win prizes, with extra chances to win available for purchase during registration. “

For the non-golfers out there, Cameco held a virtual Step Up for Mental Health fun run/walk from October 1 -6, 2021. The original Step Up for Mental Health event took place in Saskatoon in May of 2019, with an Ontario event taking place in Port Hope in October of 2019.

“This year, we’re holding one big virtual event, with all funds raised from Ontario participants contributing to the Cameco Fund for Mental Health in Northumberland County,” said Clark.

Ontario participants also received the same great swag as Saskatoon participants, including a Step Up running shirt, a bunnyhug (we call it a hoodie in Ontario), a 160 page running/walking journal, and a custom medal.

“When you visit the registration site you will notice many references to Saskatoon, where our head office is located and the original Step Up event took place,” said Clark. “However, all funds from Ontario participants will be matched by Cameco and directed to the local Cameco Fund for Mental Health in Northumberland County.
