Route information

Is there designated parking?

No parking has been designated for the event. Participants and spectators are advised to locate parking within the downtown core and walk to the Start/Finish line at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Bessborough gardens. There will be no public parking at the hotel on race-day.

When and what streets will be affected by the race?

To prepare for the Step Up run/walk, roadways along the course will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11th and will re-open at 2:00 p.m. following the event.

Registration and course rules

My child is 5-and-under. Do I have to register them even though their participation is free?

No. Your 5-and-under children are welcome to join you on the course and there’s no need to register them.

Can I register a student as an adult to receive the Step Up training shirt?

Yes. Registrants in the student (ages 6-18) category receive Step Up socks and hat for their $25 entry fee. However, students are welcome to register at the $45 level to receive the Step Up training shirt as well as the socks and hat.

Please note that we do not carry youth sizes for the shirt. Sizes start at XS for the female cut and S for the unisex version.

Can I register as a group or team?

We don’t have an official team category but we definitely encourage groups to participate. On the registration page, one person can sign up multiple people (provided you know birthdates, addresses, etc.) and make one payment. You can also show your team spirit by getting the same custom message (10-character limit) on your race bibs. This option is available on the registration form.

Can I walk the course?

Yes, we encourage participants of all abilities. If you’re walking, we encourage you to be on the far side of the right lane to avoid runners behind you.

Are strollers allowed?

Yes, we welcome participants with strollers. However, if you’re part of slower moving traffic, please stick to the far right lane and avoid blocking the path of others.

Are pets allowed on the course?

No. Certified service animals are permitted, though, provided that they are on a leash.

How do I get my swag?

Step Up training shirts are available for pickup at Brainsport in Saskatoon (616 10th St. E). After you’ve registered, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Simply show proof of registration at the store and they’ll hook you up with a shirt. The running socks, hat and race bib will be available for pickup at the Step Up expo. All registrants will receive an email with expo details closer to the event. Medals will be presented at the finish line on race day.

How can I support Step Up for Mental Health if I’m not participating in the event?

We appreciate your interest in making a difference for mental health. By request, we’ve added donation and pledge options to the event registration page. Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt from the Saskatoon Community Foundation.

Does Cameco match donations and pledges?

No. Cameco matches the registration fees for all participants in the 5K/10K run/walk but additional donations and pledges are not matched.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We've still got a few openings for volunteers! Register to volunteer by April 12th!

Money raised

Where does the money go?

All money raised through Step Up for Mental Health supports the Cameco Fund for Mental Health established through the Saskatoon Community Foundation. These funds will be disbursed annually to organizations undertaking projects that promote or support mental health. Applications for funding will be adjudicated by a panel that includes mental health professionals, as well as representatives from the Saskatoon Community Foundation and Cameco.

Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt from the Saskatoon Community Foundation. Please note that all registration fees for the 5K/10K run/walk are matched by Cameco, but donations and pledges are not matched.
