Step Up 2024

You've made a huge difference for mental health in Northumberland County and Blind River, helping to raise more than $440,000 since 2019.

For 2024, Ontario participants could register for a 5K run/walk in Cobourg, a golf tournament in Blind River, or a golf tournament in Port Hope - or all three!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Step Up for Mental Health 5K in Cobourg in 2024! We had over 700 participants registered and raised over $77,000 for local mental health initiatives in Northumberland County.

Cameco announced that its Step Up for Mental Health 5K fun run/walk would take place on May 11, 2024, at Victoria Park in Cobourg. The event was open to the community and participants will be treated to a fun, inspirational experience on a beautiful course that highlighted Cobourg’s historic downtown core and waterfront parks.

Participants each received a running t-shirt, sweatshirt, bag and medal. Registration for students (ages 8-17) included a sweatshirt, bag and medal.

Participation was free for individuals who struggle with addictions and/or mental health issues. A staff member/formal support person accompanying someone in this category could also sign up for free.

Every dollar of entry fees, plus a matching amount from Cameco, supports the Cameco Fund for Mental Health (established through the Saskatoon Community Foundation). These funds are disbursed annually to organizations undertaking projects that promote or support mental health in Northumberland County and area.

For anyone who was unable to participate but still wants to make a donation or pledge another participant, donation and pledge options are available on the registration page. Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt from the Saskatoon Community Foundation.

All funds raised from the tournaments will benefit the Cameco Fund for Mental Health. These funds will be disbursed to organizations undertaking charitable projects that promote or protect mental health in the Blind River area.

Step Up for Mental Health, powered by Cameco, recognizes the importance of, and need for, mental health resources in the local community and that funding for mental health services is essential to helping improve access and support for those who need it.

Through the Step Up for Mental Health initiative we want to promote a healthy lifestyle, involve our employees, and support mental health projects that will make a difference in our community.
