Step Up 2022

The live and virtual events for the 2022 run/walk drew a combined 4,500 participants and raised $500,000 for mental health support in Saskatchewan.

Step Up for Mental Health returned in 2022 with the option to choose between a live event or participating virtually. Registrants signed up to run/walk 5K or 10K along the beautiful Saskatoon river valley on Sept. 24, or completed the virtual event wherever they were. In addition to the best swag around, registrants experienced the fun and supportive Step Up atmosphere brimming with live entertainment.

“We all have reasons to step up,” said Cameco CEO Tim Gitzel. “It starts with the thousands of people who participate in the run/walk and now we pass the torch to the incredible organizations working hard to support those who are suffering.

“No one should suffer in silence,” added Gitzel. “Raising funds is important but so is speaking up to end the stigma. We sincerely hope that Step Up for Mental Health encourages that discussion.”

After two years of pandemic challenges, supporting mental health is more important than ever. From everyone at Step Up for Mental Health, THANK YOU! The live and virtual events for the 2022 run/walk drew a combined 4,500 participants and raised $500,000 for mental health support in Saskatchewan.

As always, 100% of registration fees – plus a matching amount from Cameco – supported the Cameco Fund for Mental Health, administered by the Saskatoon Community Foundation. Since 2019, you’ve helped raise more than $1.7 million to assist mental health projects and programs in dozens of Saskatchewan communities.
